Today is Father’s Day, a day to honor all the fathers in the world.

Father’s Day originated in the United States in the early 20th century. It is said that there was a woman in Washington State who lost her mother at a very young age. She had Six brothers and sisters and all of them were raised by their father. Her father’s self-sacrifice spirit greatly touched her.

When she grew up, she was an active advocate of Father’s Day and persuaded the then Ministerial Society of Spokane in Washington, D.C., to honor fathers with a special service. Her proposal was later officially recognized by President Woodwork Wilson in 1916. Since then, Father’s Day has become an official holiday.

On Father’s Day, it is customary for children to get up early in the morning to make a hearty breakfast for their father and bring it to his bedside to thank him for raising them. In addition, on Father’s Day, children also give gifts to their fathers, usually in the form of clothes and wine that they like.
